Images
Local images inserted in writing view are copied to an assets/ folder in the document’s folder, and the Markdown gets a relative path such as assets/filename. The original image file is left untouched. If assets/ already has a file with the same name, a random string is added to the new image’s file name.
Insert an image
- Copy an image, or copy an image file in Finder, and press
⌘Vto paste it. - Drag an image file into the editor. The image is inserted between the nearest paragraphs.
- Click Image in the formatting toolbar, then click Choose local image. You can select several images at once.
Images in an untitled document are held temporarily and written to assets/ when you first save the document.
Edit an image
Click an image and choose Edit image to change the Alt text or enter a new name in Image file name. When you rename an image, Folora copies it under the new file name and keeps the original file. Show in Finder selects the image file in Finder.

Save to another folder
When you save the document to another folder, Folora copies the local images it references into assets/ in the new folder and updates the paths in the Markdown. Paths to images that cannot be found stay unchanged.
Notes
- PNG, JPEG, GIF and WebP are supported, up to 8 MiB each. Other formats show only the alt text, and the original path stays in the Markdown.
- Web images load only from HTTPS addresses.
