Large files
Folora adjusts how a file is edited based on its size. Large files are edited as source.

| Any line over 20,000 characters | Writing view is unavailable; in source view, line wrapping and syntax highlighting are off |
| 10 MiB and above | Source view turns off syntax parsing and match highlighting and keeps text editing and line numbers; no outline is generated |
| Over 32 MiB | Edited in sections of about 256K characters each |
When Folora switches to source editing, the notification bar gives the reason, for example “Over 1M characters. Using source view for smooth editing.”
Sectioned editing
Files over 32 MiB are loaded one section at a time, and the editor shows the line where the current section starts. Use Previous section and Next section to switch sections.
Notes
- In sectioned editing, undo history covers only the current section; after you switch sections, edits in the previous section can no longer be undone.
- Find covers the whole file, and Previous match and Next match load the section containing the match. If Replace all affects content outside the current section, it cannot be undone, and the panel shows “Cannot be undone”.
- The AI writing assistant accepts only text selected in the current section and does not send the whole file.
