The Folora window has a sidebar on the left, a toolbar at the top, the editor in the middle and a status bar at the bottom.

The sidebar is collapsed by default. Press ⌘\ or click Toggle sidebar in the toolbar to open it. At the top are three pages: Files, Search and Outline. The Files page lists the workspace’s file tree and Recent.

Toolbar

The upper row of the toolbar has Editor mode and More actions (⋯). More actions lists every command. The lower row is the Formatting toolbar, which is available only in writing view.

Status bar

The status bar shows the save status and the word count. When text is selected, it shows the selected word count instead. ⋯ (Document details) at the right end lists reading time, character count and line count, and also adjusts Display zoom and Autosave. When a new version is available, an update item such as “↑ 0.2.0” appears in the status bar.

Command palette

Press ⌘K to open the Command palette, type a command name, and choose a command to run it. If no command matches, the palette lists files in the workspace whose names match. Commands can also be found by their English names.

Immersive mode

Immersive mode hides the sidebar, the toolbar and the formatting toolbar, leaving only the editor. Press ⌘. or click the four-corner button at the top right of the window to turn it on or off. When the pointer moves to the edge of the window, the hidden parts appear temporarily, and they hide again when you type in the editor.

First launch

On first launch, Folora opens a sample document as an untitled document. The Quick settings card next to it adjusts the theme, line and paragraph spacing, and display zoom. You can open the sample again later with Open sample document in the Help menu.
